I've just finished my XJ550 brat / cafe build and went out for a test ride. I wasn't happy with the stopping power of the standard front brake so I picked up a used 4 pot front caliper from a R6. It's a fairly common upgrade for the RD250/350LC and they use the same original caliper as the Seca.
I've had a billet adaptor made up and did a test fit today. It all lines up nicely so I'm rebuilding the caliper with new seals etc and I already have a braided hose. Hopefully should have it all back together this week.
I'll upload some pics and an update when it's done.

Does it require an MC upgrade? Pushing more fluid, I assume requires a MC with a larger bore?

I'm hoping the original 1/2 inch master should be ok. If not I've got a spare 5/8 master from an old project so I can try that. I've got a feeling the 5/8 might feel a bit wooden with a single caliper though. I'll update once I've fitted the caliper.

So I got the R6 caliper fitted and all seems good. I'm using the original 1/2 inch bore master cylinder and I have a nice firm progressive feel at the lever. Went for a short ride to get the pads bedded in a bit and it's a big improvement over the original set up. XJ550 051.jpg XJ550 052.jpg
