Hello, I'm putting the engine back together on my 82 750 Maxim. On the final drive driven gear there are 4 torx bolts that were originally peened to lock them. What is yall's opinion on using threadlocker instead of peening them? Just curious..

I am sure the factory manual states to stake or peen them (the torx bolts) that is what I did with mine on the Middle Drive Gear. I used threadlock on the four bolts holding the driven gear onto the crankcase.

I wonder if loctite could perform the same job with no issues though. Im having difficulty staking them as everytime I hit the stake with a hammer it bounces all over the place.

I was able to peen them over, I was just worried about breaking the bolt but it worked out.
