1980 XJ650

I was just looking to see what a non (partially at best) running xj650 would sell for.

I have spent way more time and money than I wanted to, to restore and get this running.

I'm not sure what other info to include...

I just sold my restored (labour of love) 82 Yamaha XJ650RJC SECA for $4,000.00 (CDN), but I regret selling it because it was a beautiful bike and I will probably never find another similar one like it. Think about selling yours.

 

Have you ever thought about just doing a cheaper partial resto? It would save you some money and allow you to just go for a ride and enjoy her for what she is.

I'll try to get some photos,. It was garage kept and we'll maintained, I know that much

 

I can't get it properly running, I replaced the cracked carb boots, rebuilt the carbs, changed the plugs, and oil. Not to mention had to pay someone to remove the broken bolts from the carb boots into the engine.

 

If I could get it running solidly, I would throw a set of new tires on and ride around, but that's what I keep struggling with.

 

@Danath256 , where in Pa are you? Maybe close enough to some of the inmates here who could help with your running issues and get you going. And don't forget @hogfiddles Central New York Carburetor Clinic coming up in a few weeks. He, we, love messing with not quite right running bikes. If you are close enough it is a great time to be had.

Here you go, check this out. @hogfiddles place is between Norwich and Utica, NY and is about 3 1/4 hours from your neighborhood, per Google Maps. I highly recommend the event, great folks, good motorcycles, good eats and in general a great time to be had.
@CrazyGnat just acknowledged that he will be there and he is from Central Pa as well. Yes, I know, that covers A LOT of ground. We look forward to and hope to see you and your pretty XJ there.

 

I would love to fix it up and get it running, I just don't have the time or patience to wrench on it anymore.
I would like it to get the attention it deserves from someone that has time for it.
