Replacing 700S head cover gasket

    On an 86 700S…

    the circled hole appears to be supposed to be covered by the gasket.

    did they have the wrong gasket on this?

    I’m going to order an OE one so I guess I’ll find out when I get it but I wanted thoughts from yens

    Looks correct to me. Mine don’t have any gasket at that spot

    That is correct it is not meant to be covered. Your first pic suggests that too as the place the gasket does not cover is dirty.
