Hello friends! I had to push the bike because the starter relay broke.
After 50 meters, the motor made a noise and stopped. When I start it makes a broken noise.
the timing chain is well synchronized, the oil pump works well, when I put the spark plugs it makes a strange noise. I don't know where to start. The same thing happened to someone? Thank you!

So with no spark plugs it sounds smooth?

Turn it over by hand using the reluctor square nut without the plugs.

Let's see if you feel/hear anything when doing that.

I think it should be anti clockwise when looking at the left hand side of the engine.

Hopefully you are talking about an XJ of some kind.

    Hello!
    - no spark plugs no noise
    - With spark plugs and turning by hand does not make noise
    - With the start and at good speed it makes an internal noise.
    - It is not the timing chain because it is synchronized
    - Oil pump chain works fine.
    - I have uncertainty.

Will I have to open the engine?

You mean speed as in RPM and standing still I'm taking it.
If that's the case grab a piece of dowel and put it at different points on the engine while putting it against your ear.
It will conduct the sound more accurately to try and determine where the noise you are hearing is coming from.

Is it a clack or a grinding noise or a cracking noise or a ...

I'm pretty sure we can help but you need to be more specific.

    FYI:
There are 3 chains inside the engine.

Cam chain - stretches and creates timing issues and general slapping.

Oil pump - can't see it ever having an issue.

Primary drive chain - stretches and breaks down the primary chain guide and eventually either shears off the oil spray nozzle or damages it enough to reduce oil coverage to the starter clutch.

The primary drive chain is used by the starter and the alternator on the 750.

The sound is difficult to describe. Looks like a loose chain. It's important to know that this started right after I pushed it to start because the starter relay broke. For that reason I checked the timing chain and found that it is in good condition. Synchronized. Loose part or chain noise seems to be coming from below. The bike has 30,000 miles of use. I have no problem disarming. The engine was never opened. Thank you very much for the information you can give me. Sorry for the translation.

Still not making sense. Can you make a short video of it and post it here so we can hear/see what’s happening ?

    Hello Franz .
The changes come all. I put them on while turning the wheel.
    - Take out the spark plugs.
    - I put gear 1.
    - I turned the rear wheel carefully and it makes no noise.
    - I repeated the process in all gears.
    - When I start with the spark plugs on, it makes a noise like a loose piece.
The 30,000 miles is real. I will try to upload a video.
    Thank you very much

Have you checked your exhaust for loose parts at the cylinder head header pipe joint. Make sure all the exhaust joints are tight. Exhaust rattles are an easy check to make.

You know that baffle in the original collector can make a helluva racket when it rusts out too.

    hello!
I couldn't film for the following reason.
2 days ago I loosened the timing chain tensioner to inspect if it was getting tight. I just loosened it and retightened it.
Yesterday I put the spark plugs in and cranked the engine.
    It didn't make noise.
I hooked up a higher power PSU to gain rpm and it didn't make any noise either.
Since the carbs were out of fuel, I injected a flammable spray to give it a little more RPM and film the damage.
The motor made a few explosions but did not make a broken noise.
I put in the gas tank and fueled the carbs.
I cranked the engine and the bike started without any problems. No noise broken.
I let the bike run for a few seconds, then I put all 5 gears. Without noise...
Then today I put in a beautiful 100 miles and the bike handled really well. I must admit that now at low revolutions (1050 RPM) it behaves better than before.
    Was the timing chain loose?
Could it be that by loosening the tensioner, something was adjusted and that is why it now responds better?
or I have to worry because at any moment it leaves me lying on the road.
Anyway, today I spent an unforgettable day of 25 degrees Celsius with one of my children, riding our Maxim girl.

Based on your explanation and description, I’m going to venture a guess:

    1. your battery is low
    2. With plug removed, there’s no compression so the engine turns over easily even with a weak battery
    3. With plugs in, the battery is too weak, and your STARTER CLUTCH is not engaging firmly, so it jumps out and rattled around . Eventually it may catch and try to start, especially with starter fluid.
    4. Adding a booster to the battery gives it the amperage it needs to start normally.
    5. So my deduction at the moment is: you simply need a new battery.

again, that’s just a guess from trying”read between the lines”........
