Trying to adjust float/fuel height in a 750xj. Prior to removing the rack I drained each bowl and recorded the amount drained out. #1=18cc, #2=20cc, #3=23cc and #4=27cc
Obviously it is out of wack but wondering what each bowl should be at?

I don't recall ever seeing a spec for wet setting using this method - makes sense that you could do it that way, but I'm not sure if it's a known/published spec.

The typical wet set is the "clear tube" method.

Yes I am aware of the method I just decided to check what was in each bowl when I drained them and now with such a large discrepancy I am curious what it should be. With the clear tube method we adjust the level to 3mm below the mounting face. That being the case there should be corresponding volume in the float bowl.

I don't think you could do it that way because you have no way to shut off the fuel going to the input to each carb individually. If you shut off the fuel going to the main inlet (or inlets for those that have 2), then there is still fuel between that and the float needle in the tubes that link the carbs together. As you drain the bowls, fuel will back fill into the carbs in an uneven rate. Plus you have a vacuum sitiation going on as the fuel is shut off then a vacuum forms at the place you shut it off and some fuel may or may not flow down.
That is likely what you are seeing. You would need a fuel shut off at exactly above the needle to be able to use this method. I would say what you have going on is inconsequential.

Ok that’s interesting. The first carb I checked had the most, so maybe that is the case. I will be setting them using the proper method. I was just curious.
    Thanks for the input.
