Can you please state which years/model, as they do differ....
Example: 80-81 maxim has cable tach, ‘82-83 is electrical.
    Turbo has more electricals
650 didn’t have an aux headlight
    Etc....
    correction: spelling-
    monirot should be “monitor”
    Spart plugs should be “spark”
    Engin should be “Engine”

There are a number of "Note" flags in various areas on the diagram.
In the lower half, slightly right of center (above the pickup coil, #15) there is a key to all the notes. The key text is kind of small, so below is a blown up screen grab.

**Besides #10, this diagram & these notes are faithful reproductions the original harness diagrams I found back when I bought my XJ & created this PDF diagram in ~2013. I cant say for sure which manual my diagram was from, I have my original screen grabs from what I started with but cant find the original source. Probably, most likely Yamaha, Clymer or Haynes.

***Edit, I'll try look at the spelling errors when I get some time.. Its not actually a professional work, so I'm kinda meh about it.. This diagram has been floating around the web since 2013 tho, so absolutely no chance of fixing all the many reposts on other sites over the years. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

To clarify an earlier point. I didn't "buy" my XJ in 2013. I traded a sailboat for it! ;)

I dunno, it looks like you got the better end of that deal. I'd take a trusty XJ over a boat any day.

It looks like a "Frankenbike", my favorite! I like the color too. Well used, well traveled and well loved. Do you still have it?

I traded the sailboat for the XJ in 2013 and had it for about 5 yrs, then traded the XJ again for the Salsa fatbike pictured below.

Sometime in the 90s someone did the custom paint and put a harley sportster fender, luggage rack & saddle on the XJ... and those cherry bomb mufflers.... really kinda funky..

I mean.. I have no idea what they were thinking, looks like lewd photo of shrek's mom or something.. Whoever it was, they definitely loved the bike at the time they did all the work.

When I got a hold of the XJ, I didnt care how it looked. was my first motorbike and ran, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Here's a couple different angles and the weird paint..... I eventually put a nicer newer sportster saddle on it (pictured above).

In early 2018 I traded the XJ for this all-carbon Salsa fatbike.. Pretty sure the Salsa is still worth more than the XJ in a cash sale. Weird how that works.
