I’m looking at my float height recently as I see to be running rich and i checked the wet height and it is slightly above the bowl, I was wondering what the float height was for the turbo as I see it being 21.5 or 17.5, and where to measure the dry height from, where the metal arm attaches to the plastic or the step below it where it’s all plastic?

    Couple things:

    1. from Len’s pages

    Mikuni BS30 (all XJ650 Turbo):

    -Fuel level measured via the clear-tube gauge: 2mm +/- 1mm (.08 +/- .04 inches)

    -Float height: 21.0 +/- 0.5mm

You said plastic floats……. Do you really mean “black hard shiny plastic floats”? That’s aftermarket cheapo stuff. It MAY float the same, it may not, so all bets are off.

if you mean the “duller black sealed foam” floats, ok, these are original. Go with the 21.0mm dry height to start with.

they’re the original ones, should’ve clarified that, i was not sure where to measure from as im seeing different things online, from the photo attached is the 21 mm from point A the main body of the float, or point B, the point of the float where the arm attaches to it? I know to measure from the body of the carb, but not sure which part of the float for the top measurement.

That is only a rough setting to get you close, not the final adjustment. You will need to do a wet set to get an accurate setting. I don't do a dry set because it will change with wet.

I’ll be doing a wet set with fuel pump pressure and everything but I wanna have it about where it needs to be, then do the wet set
