i have to jump my bike(83 seca750) every time i start it. It will run good, and i can ride it for a bit, then just start to bog and die. Its not the petcock, and there's no vacuum leaks, and the carbs and tank are clean. I think the battery might not be charging.
    Anyone got any ideas????

If the battery isn't charging...what would i need to replace to make it charge.......

    The Alternator Brushes.
    Fairly common occurrence, too.

Just take-out the three Cap Screws holding the Alternator Cover on and look inside the cover on the back.
There's a Brush Holder back there.

Measure the Length of the Brushes.
If they are 10mm or shorter ... replace them!

It might be the brushes, but I had the same problem.

It is most likely your voltage regulator.

It is located under the battery case, it is the part with the cooling fins.

Two little bolts will set it free after you remove your battery.

They wanted close to $200 dollars new, but I found a used one for $80 dollars.

I would only get about 40 miles and I would have to push the bitch home.

Bought a new battery and would get the same distance before I would get another major cardio workout...xD

That's the way mine acted when I had a loose ground...which in turn killed the regulator/rectifier unit.

A pretty simple test is to hook-up a Meter to the Battery and monitor the Voltage.

The Voltage should dip below 12-Volts when you hit the Starter.
    Recover.
Show 12 -to- 12.5 Volts Idling
The Voltage should rise as rpm's increase.

When you hit 18-Hundred rpm's ... the Voltage ought to be at or approaching
    13.5 -to- 14 or so.

At 2,000 rpm's and above ... 14.2 -to- 14.5 with 14.2 being normal and 14.5 being an acceptable overage.

Above 14.5 indicates trouble with the Regulator.
