My turn signals stopped working at idle but at 1300 rpm they work.
They never worked with the brake light on at idle.
Is it time to replace the alternator brushes or are there other things to checkout?

Clean the sockets and replace the bulbs before you do anything more expensive. May just be a bit of crud increasing the resistance in the circuit.

Also take a brass brush to all of your fuse clips and replace all the fuses if you have the original glass fuse panel.

Living in SE Texas I go through this cleaning phase with my old Volkswagens a lot.

    Absolutely check the Alternator Brushes.
    Only takes a few minutes.

If you find that they are below the limit; you probably fornd your source of having the blinkers quit on you at low-revs.

10mm or shorter ... new Brushes time!

Turns out the brushes are in need of replacement(thanks Rickomatic).
The main fuse and in line holder needed some cleanup too.
The turn signals work at idle now and I will be replacing those brushes asap.
