    Re: How menny miles

I'm off that chart and I'd suspect there are many other's past that... I do about 10,000km a year and I've had this bike 5 years - 6th year this year. By November I suspect I'll have ~60,000km of my own on this bike... plus the P.O.'s meager start... probably passing 80,000km sometime this year.

    I've already seen:

    44,444
    50,000
    55,555
    60,000
    66,666

and closing in on 70,000 very quickly.

I'd vote but I've over 85K miles on my beast. Guess I don't get to play. Should I tap in at 25-30K?

How many miles on my bike???

I think its got about 25K on it, but I would have to check.

I think last year I put about 1500 mile son it. Did 100 miles in one day, and yes my arse was sore!

100 miles and your arse was sore? That's only a tank of gas! :)

Get back on your saddle - you need to practice for a SS (Saddle Sore)

    :D

I've done the SS but haven't documented it. Contemplating doing 6000km in 6 days, which still near the pace those crazy Iron Butter's go... 11,000 miles in 11 days! :O

81,700 KMs, or roughly 51,000 miles.

Oh yeah, given the age of the bike, and the fact that it only has a 5 digit odometer, who's to say it hasn't been around the clock?

    Re: How menny miles

Your poll doesn't give me the correct answer. I picked the 25-30k miles range but mine actually has over 65k miles on the frame and the new engine has about 27k miles. The original engine had 60k and was still running when I removed it. It was removed due to the primary chain guide failing and dropping bits int the selector drum.

    Re: How menny miles

Mine has 34,000 on it. Do all of the other bikes with the high mileage have the original motor? I would be interested to know if they are still running strong after so many miles. How is the compression on those older engines too? Mine is 120psi now. I am hoping to get more out of it.

    Re: How menny miles

132,000km and still the original motor. Whats been done internal wise I don't know but still seems to have all the original gaskets in place. No sign of the crankcase being split. Will be pulling the head off this winter to fix a few things. Might even rebuild If I can source the parts like cam chain, primary chain, pistons and rings. compression is still over 100 but some noisy rattles are starting to annoy me.

    Re: How menny miles

I fixed the poll range but I had to remove the previous results. Now we all can vote

I read somewhere about an XJ with mileage over 400,000 so stretched the ranges a bit wider

Keep in mind that approx 1.6 KM = 1 Mile

    Re: How many miles

    Yay, I fit in somewhere.

Did a quick recalculation of what's on the clock and from the info I got from the PO who travelled to work every day using the revcounter as the speedo didn't work for seven years.

Just wondering how many miles everyone has on their bikes, particularly XJ650's. I'm trying to get a feel for how long they will go before major trouble. My 81 XJ650 has 29600 on the odometer, it runs/rides great though. The guy I bought it from took good care of it.

I guess it has been edited because I fall in the 25-50,000 mile category. I have 27,000+ on the original engine.
