After cutting my yam in half behind the steering neck with a few hacksaw blades and welding it back together with more rake, i needed a new project. My girlfriends dad is a retired machinist so, i asked him to make me a oversized driveshaft six inches over stock. What do you guys think about the final look of the bike?

It's a lot of work. I did it to my 79XS1100. I added 6 inches to the rear swing arm. It required splicing two driveshafts and tunnels together to make a longer one. I'll post some pictures in a couple of days.

Cant wait to see the pics of your 79xs1100 mlew. I havent done the rear swing arm stretch yet because of what i might get myself into. I'm worried about getting the rear swingarm "true" after welding two swingarms together. Not to mention having the rear tire come off on I-95. But i'm determined to give it my best shot.

I'd love to see them too.
I would like to extend the swingarm on my XJ1100 and put a chain drive on it.

I like the look of the ape hangers, but not angled up so far. I like them when they're in-line with the forks. The length of the frame might not allow that on our bikes though?
What are drag bars, if someone has them, I'd like to see a pic! I'm basically rebuilding my XJ from scratch and could use some ideas.

Drag bars extend from the swingarm, behind the bike.
Usually with wheels or bushings on the end.
This way when the front end goes skyward the bars hit and drop you back down.
Basically so you don't wheelie over.

I thought those were "wheelie bars"?

These sound like a style of front handle bars.

Drag bars are a type of handle bar. The term may also be used as per "The Hounds" comments, but I do believe here eflat was talking about handle bars. A quick ebay search will bring a bunch up, but they are kind of V shapped and angle back towards the rider....
