Due to lack of interest on the forums, there won't be anymore 3d xj's from me. This week was the last one. What i was hoping for was some feedback on what works and doesnt work, and ideas form you all. Although I recieved a handful of positive comments(thank you), there was very little critisism and only 3 people went as far as to suggest ideas they would like to see. There is a lot of work that goes into these and if i'm just doing it for nothing, then maybe it's time to re-think. Either this forum is the wrong place to post them to get the ideal result, or people just don't care. Possibly both, it doesnt matter.

Fair enough Ian, and for what it's worth I'll give you a comment on why I didn't comment on them. Does that make sense? :?

Over here customisation of any motor vehicle runs under very strict regulations. A Frame/chassis modification requires an engineers certificate which usually requires xrays for fractures etc, all this required before police inspection for roadworthyness. Hence, not worth me drooling over too much.

The other main downside IMO was the only visible XJ component that seemed to be used was an engine. All the rest was totally custom.

FWIW, I enjoyed looking at them, and admire your effort and creativity.

Now may be the time to put that creativity into your real bike and get her finished.

Well, I have to say I'm very disappointed. I did thoroughly enjoy seeing what you came up with, you definetly have an extreme amount of artistic ability, as well as a mind that thinks "out-of-the-box". I can understand your decision, but hopefully you'll still work on some new models in your spare time.

Actually I was thinking about making a Custom Picture Of The Week of some sort. Yes, your designs are extreme and not true XJ’s.

I thought your work was VERY creative and I really enjoyed it. I would love to make one of these custom rides but customizing and fabrication to this extent requires lots of time. At this time I don’t have spare time and I don’t have the necessary tools but I do have the dreams. Maybe some of us just don’t have the skills to create a custom bike like this or maybe we don’t have the vision on how it will all come together, where to get the parts or how to make them. Taking it from a picture and putting it together also requires planning as to what will go where, how it will be implemented and how it will work. The designs are nice but building it is another story.

Man, if I had your skills I’d be looking to start my own customization shop. Your designs can apply to many other motorized rides (go-carts, dune buggies and other power toys).

I'm sorry I failed to chime in on your extraordinary efforts Ian, my apologies. I see incredible talent every time you post and am particularly grateful to have your input here. I guess I can echo what Joel said
. Being a bit of a purist, it is hard for me to see a complete machine being hacked up to be formed into something else so I guess that is a testament to my "inside the box" mentality. This by no means suggests that I can't admire your art, but I suppose I'm trying to justify my responses. I haven't the creative mind of an artist so about the only feedback you would get from me would be "I like it" or "I don't like it". I would feel a little awkward posting that to the fine creations you have envisioned, rather a waste of words in my opinion, especially after the third time. I think I just confessed to being a square boob with no creative imagination, sigh. I am what I am. You do what you deem appropriate, I'll understand and I can only hope you understand my "impairment".

EXACTLY my thoughts. Not sure how the chopper business is up in Canada, but around here chopper shops are popping up all over the place due to all the TV shows, etc. Some of the bigger shops could really use a designer like you.

    Try posting at http://www.3dcommune.com

When I was making 3d contend I would post there.

Lots of 3d savy folks there and you will get lots of feed back.

When you sign up (free) then you can look up some of the work I did, mostly with Carrara Studio.

    Look up under Kryoclasm

My speciality is modeling real objects, but there are groups for lots of stuff, what ever you are into.
