Hi all so glad I found this site just picked up a 82 xj 26000 miles for 500

A couple selling it didnt know much about it and Im new to bikes as well. So went over there lil ugly but got her "pop" started (battery was almost dead hadnt been started in over a month) and she ran a little rough started to smooth out just before I turned her off.

Im ready to restore/mod and ride they said its a 750 but from what I can tell its a 650 how do I go about checking this? I want to start with some basics this weekend finally get my hands dirty on it. thanks for the help

    What the VIN Number say?

Look on the Steering Head, right-hand side, up and down where the Bearings for the Front-end are.

look at the motor between the #2 and #3 exhaust pipe and see cast in the aluminum 653 CC or 748 CC? See if your engine VIN # matches the frame VIN. A running bike for $500 is not bad, as long as you have fun with it.
