I am planning to paint my gas tank on my xj650, It is originally black but i would like to paint it black and silver gray. Any one have any pictures where they painted a tank in two tone? That will give me an idea where to cut the two different colors. ( like black on bottom, Gray on top ) All suggestions will be appreciated.

black with silver scallops... cant go wrong with scallops, it would be even better if it was outlined in blue or red, or green

I guess I understood what you meant by two tone and having a complex paint job, but I am a simple man and I seem to gravitate towards simple paint jobs. But I really do like the look of the tank you posted. I'll keep my eye out for something along those lines and post when I do find it.

Are those clubmans? Do they hit the tank?

Edit: I second this paint job. I love it =)

Yes, they are clubmans and they did hit the tank on the left. But this is not the original tank. I completely rebuilt the bike using all kinds of different parts so when I had it all mocked up, I welded a tack on the left stop and this kept the bars at a comfortable distance. Keeping the controls off the tank was just lots of moving things around up and down and rotating them until everything cleared all together.

The bike is also for sale, if anyone is interested. It still has a few minor things that need to be done. I'm moving to las vegas and don't have the time to finish it or room to take it with.

Where's the battery, regulator, and ignition for this one? Or is it not quite done in this state?

I believe the battery is in the hump and the electronics are under the seat pan... that's the normal way cafe racers are done.
