I have an 82 MAXIM 750. I am fixing to undertake the dreaded carb cleaning soon and had a few questions.

    1. How much time should you plan on spending from removal to bike actually running again? I am mechanically inclined (did steering bearings recently in about 4 hours, first time) but not super experienced on bikes or carbs. My bike is my sole transportation to work so I need it back up ASAP after I start.

    2. What parts should you have on hand to do the job right the first time. I read Rick's old school carb cleaning write up. But besides the cleaning and misc bins/containers. Is it wise to get new rubber parts (o-rings, seals) and needles? Or anything else for that matter (gaskets, etc)

My bike runs perfect once warm but seems to take a good long time to get there. Also the "choke" is really touchy and you have to stand there babying it in the morning. I assume this must be an enrichment circuit issue.

Any help would be much appreciated.
