Make sure to read up on rejetting the carbs after going to a 4 to 1. You will have some serious air flow with these things!

Thanks! Perfect, it basically doesn't change much other than dropping the second pipe

Well that depends - they've had a few different variations over the years, and that picture is old. They've changed:
Colours: all black, black/chrome (pictured), all chrome
Muffler design: megaphone (like stock - and pictured), slash cut, turn out, taper tip

So what you see might definately NOT be what you get. Make sure you know.

hrrm, my main concern is that the exhaust would end up interfering with my saddle bags and possibly that the exhaust would make using this stand unusable [IMG]

I don't have that stand yet but it should go on sald 1/2 price at some point.

My friend bought one of those jacks from Fleet Farm here in MN. It works on his Harley but on our bikes the exhaust is in the way. From the Mac pictures you might be able to get it to work from the left side of the bike. Let us know if it works out. I have been thinking about switching to aftermarket exhaust on one of my bikes. The stock mufflers are so hard to get and it seems like new pipes and a few new carb jets are pretty easy to aquire.

Well I'm told those mac 4 into 1's are the things to get, improve performance and for the price it looks like a decent deal.

My XJ has a 4-to-1 Mac, and I can't figure how I would get it on a lift without removing the pipes -- mind you, I've never tried. I see that the pipes collect to the right-of-center beneath the frame, and to me this pretty much inhibits the lift from making contact with both sides of the frame.

If anyone out there has 4-to-1's & this style of lift, do you simply remove the pipes?

I have the exact bike with this exact exhaust system, and happen to own that exact motorcycle lift.

Yes - you need to remove the whole exhaust system in order to get the lift in there. There's not even enough room under there to use a frame adapter (required - even with the exhaust off).

I suspect that even the stock exhaust would need to be removed to use that lift without crushing it.

Altus, sorry for the silly question, but do you use a frame adapter with your lift to elevate your Maxim?

Yes, you need just a bit if you want to lift on the frame rails - I just use a couple of pieces of 2x2 lumber - I've dished the frame-side of mine so they fit a bit more securely. If you're gentle, I suppose you could lift directly on the bottom of the engine, but I'm not that trusting/confident in the strength of the aluminum.
I've seen people with welding skills get all fancy and weld up a set of adapters permanently to the lift too.
