Hi everybody, my son and I were working on rebuilding the carbs on our 82 maxim 750 and he put the carbs in the order they came off the bike but we have both turned he racks a couple of times and can't remember the orientatio of the muffin pan when we put them in it initially. Due to this little issue I am not sure what order the bowls go back on the carburetor in. It looks like there is basically 2 types and the only difference is the orientation of the screws in the bottom. So does it really matter as long as the screws are pointing out or is there something else I need to look for? I know that I have seen the answer to this question but can't seem to find it now =( Anyway, thanks for the info =) have a good one and ride safe!

It's best to put everything back on the same body, but you should be able to mix them also. Did you run a fine wire thru the tiny hidden jet in the carb bowls?

The drain screws originally pointed outward. If you put them back that way you won't need a 3' screwdriver to open the drains

Bowls and 'muffin pans' don't really matter. They are 100% interchangeable.

just take your time when putting the puffin tops back on that the diaphram is seated fully and well so you don't have any issues. As mentioned the screws on the bowls face out you should be ok. At worst you may have a bowl leak if there is a snall imperfection in one body and the gaskets are hardened.

The wire can be found in a cheap wire brush, just pluck out a few, they are bent over, straighten 1 out, or buy a welder's tip cleaning tool, a pack of wires.

Insert the wire into the carb bowl in the hole at the gasket surface, about an inch down there is a #40 jet just larger than this wire. The bottom goes to the drain screw area. Find these jets !

The same wire is shoved into the brass TINY emulsion tube that goes into this well. I had crud in that tube. Of course when you blow carb cleaner thru that tube, you just relocated the crud further into your carbs, and on the way to the "choke" and the idle circuits. :?
