Cold hesitation

    My maxim 650 when its first started and running cold, I go to give it gas and it hesitates 1 to 2 sec b4 it responds.After it gets up to a little higher RPMs its seems fine. Whats up w/ that?

    Mine was doing that and I found my mix was a bit rich. I leaned it and resolved the issue.

    could be mixtures, or the ever present "DIRTY CARB"
    the diaphrams could be sticking or as bill suggests-rich mixtures

    that sounds about right, a little choke might help
    cold engines like a richer mixture

    Could just be that its 26 years old and if that is your only problem with the bike I say a little patince would go a long way. Let it warm up a little before you take it to the red line. just my$.02

    my bike did this when I first got it running. after dialing in the mixtures a bit though, i only need choke to start her up, and to keep her from stalling for the first 30 seconds i'm riding off. After that, cut the choke, no stumbles, no stalls, no nothing.

    Sounds like you're a bit rich to me. Might look into fixin those mixtures! =)
