The usual splitting and duct tape. I think I would be happy with a new cover rather than buying another used seat. Any recommendation?

Yep. Also, depending on the bike, you may be able to find NOS or it might even still be available from Yamaha. OR: Sargent's Cycle Products makes covers, but they also have a recovering/repair service. Most aftermarket covers run $60-$70 + shipping, I sent my seat to Sargent's and they recovered it for slightly more than $100. If I hadn't added the red welt (see pics of white bike in my gallery) it would have been UNDER $100, including shipping. The workmanship is flawless, I can't believe they don't charge more... http://www.sargentcycle.com/prodover.htm look under "custom seat services" they have a gallery of their work. I'm going to send the seat from my '83 to them shortly. Highly recommended.

They should be available on ebay. It would help if you would include the model and year of your bike in your sig area.

and there is my point...you spent 80.00 with Sargent, plus shipping. For another $20 plus a 3-4 week wait, they would have done it for you. I cannot believe what a good job they do and for so little. Check the pics of my '81 (the white bike) in my gallery...Sargent is definitely the way to go, whether DIY or send it...
