When I first started riding my '82 SECA 750 this year, I noticed the anti-dive wasn't doing a hell of a lot. I thought that was wierd, given this is my first anti-dive bike. Then while I was reading the owners manual on the XJCD, I discovered the system has adjustments. Hmmm... So I pulled the caps and discovered that one was on full soft and the other was on setting 2. The manual states they should be set the same. I have them both on 3 now, but have yet to ride the bike. There is a noticeable difference just grabbing the brakes while rolling the bike in my shop. What setting do you guys use? Do you change it depending on the load?

    Exactly,

Aparently the further in you screw the adjuster the more anti-dive you get. The scroll marks are numbered 1-5, 1 being the mark you see at the top of the notch when the adjuster is screwed all the way out gently, and 5 is the top of the adjuster bolt when it is level with the top of the notch. The manual says not to force the adjustment past 1 (all the way out), or damage could result. I'll try to find the pics.

I run mine at "4" since I have the Vetter fairing up front and frequently carry a passenger. I will say that in the little bit of riding I've done since I overhauled the brake and fork systems, the anti-dive is anti-diving a lot better than it used to.

I am replacing the fork seals and had a look how this thing works and found out both were stuck.

The brake actuator RH side was stuck in and the LH side stuck halfway out [meaning antidive was on partly ], so i pulled em to bits...

To get the little piston out with the "o" ring on it if stuck , fortunatly remove the bleeder screw and using a tool [punch] one can tap it out through there as the piston is directly under neath on a slight angle..

Clean all bits , wet and dry lightly the bore and fit new o ring after that they should move fairly freely , make shure the other plunger in the pics is free as it pushes the piston back up [or in] , test by blowing in top hole and with your finger inside push up and gradually down on the plunger and see if the air starts to block off, there was alot of old sludge in the fork section on mine after its 20 odd years of existence.

These are going to work as new now....

Nice documentation. I need to do the same to my Seca. Good job HooNz, your efforts are greatly appreciated (embarassing, how come I didn't think to do that when I had my forks all apart? Arrgh!).

Time, who has that anymore??? Yes, I do have little to spare anymore. Just got done re-upolstering my mother's scooters seat. Had to wait until the ankle biter was in bed before I could get going on it. I've got to have at least 7 hours in the sack everynight or I'm useless at work so that means I have about 2 hours a night to do anything I'm intending to get done. Sigh, for my young single days when all I had to worry about was where my next tank of gas was going to be purchased from. Bless my wife, she does her level best to give me all the time she can to persue my hobbies. I'm blessed beyond belief with her, still can't figure out what she sees in me.

The o rings are not available at yamaha here they say so i am trying o rings similiar but not as wide , i'll let you know how it goes as all that can happen is a leak [so do not bother about a warning ect] as there is a little leak hole just for that purpose to view.

those little pistons slide real free compared to a stUck one :)
