decided to make a cage for my XJ550 so at least it looks the part

since there was no mounting spots in the upper frame I had to make some:

this little think comes in handy  :

    left side tacked together:

right side tacked together, little difficult to make with the clutch cover sticking out:

may get some "pucks" for the end:

removed and ready to be welded:

I'll get them all welded up and cleaned up hopefully today and tomorrow, then paint... not sure what to do about that, I know the front mount is going black but the cages are either going copper, blue or silver... opinions?

get thet shiny metal blue paint, available at most hardware stores. it kinda looks like a blue foil coating.

and yes, those pipe benders are nice, used mine recently to nudge a fork tube back straight that got bent on my honda.

Do you want to borrow my XJ1100 for about 6 months?
Give it back when it looks like that?
We can trade for a while.
I'll be nice to it I promise! ;)

Now all you are missing is stainless brake lines! Contact Chacal STAT and get the remedy cheap! I'd also recommend a newer rotor but that can wait until you get the important stuff first. That 550 looks way b***hin' dude!

You can also get the stainless lines at the Toybox.

Takes a very long time to order stuff in but they're best kind.

thought about it but a buddy of mine just gave me his stock lines off his newer GSXR (he put on stainless ones), they were a perfect fit and free so I can't complain :D

I just don't understand why you want to crash your bike?

nobody really WANTS to crash their bikes, me included, especially after picking and working on this for so long, the cage is there to protect my work in case of a mishap, this cage will protect the bike alot better than the stock ones (which aren't that bad though), plus they are there to add to the over all look I was going for with this bike...

    That's kind of silly...

You wear a helmet and riding gear... not because you want to crash, just because if you do, you want to minimize the damage.
