    Hello everyone,

I finally got around to finishing taking apart my carb.s (I think I am finished taking them apart?). I am hoping that the cause of my problem (runs fine @ cold, as it gets hot it dies, runs beautifully otherwise, as a sudden change it came this summer: http://www.xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=11871.html ) is this ugly pilot screw:

    Another one:

Anyway, what do you suggest in terms of this ugly pilot screw, replacement? From where? Also I suppose maybe I could clean this one? What about the cause of the bad screw? Etc.

    Thanks again,

    -Matt

Talk to Chacal! His parts list is in the 'Sell, Trade, Swap, Wanted' forum.

    hello Kordasn,

You can clean them or chacal has them in stock at this link
    http://www.xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/p=103282.html

he also has the spring, washer and o-ring but they are on the fuel system parts page

You should be able to clean the screws if the threads are fine and they're not bent but i would replace the o- ring , washer, maybe, and spring

Do you think that this is going to grime up immediately again? Or is this an isolated, "because it's not been cleaned in a while" problem?

I'm not an expert but it seems if the screw is in good shape otherwise, a good cleaning would be fine. The spring looks bad but could be cleaned also, I replaced the springs, washers and o-rings on mine just to be sure.

And if it does get like that immediately you have problems elsewhere in your fuel system causing it.

Yea I'm going to clean it for sure.

Is there some kind of 'rebuild kit' available? I'm pretty internet-savvy, but I am having a hard time with Chacal's page(s?) Nothing really looks bad except for that one screw, as a matter of fact, other than some sediment there was really nothing other than that.

And where are the sync screws that Rick mentions in?:

You just need to PM chacal on this site . He does not have a web site (yet)

The sync screws are on the throttle rail. Search sync and there are several pics posted

the sync screws are the screws on the engine side of the carbs (3 total)

that have the springs on the throttle shafts. The same place your throttle cable attaches to (at the carbs) and moves all the carb throttles at the same time.

Not a very good explaination I know but look at a rack of carbs and you will see what I'm talking about
