i realize the issue with not being able to do certain things because of the carbs vs. fuel Injection aspect but... has anyone thought of making an xj stunt bike? i think it would be cool.

well, wheelies take a toll on the xj's fork seals.
Rear suspension is @ 80's grade quality technology

    Bike is heavy to boot.

Any ideas in mind, I am not doing anything like this but I would watch a build like this.

I am leaving mine like it was built. It is too much fun to ride just like it is. But I wil check yours out.
Kind of like...I'm not a gynocoligist but I will have a look.

Only a fool with suicidal tendencies would attempt stunting a shaft drive Yamaha.

You can't win any fight with Gravity!

    And the point is????????????

There are way too many other bikes out there capable of doing this soooooo much more safely for much less money even.

Take no personal offense to this but I really question the intelemgence or/and the level ofingnorance. I hope the latter is the question athand that you'll learn with time.

In a word......give it up and stat alive.

You would need to change the gearing - which means you could only use the 550 (chain drive).

You don't see many sub 600 cc stunt bikes - there's a good reason for that (lack of power).

Having said that I'd still like to see someone have a go!

stunting is often misconcieved as "HIGH SPEED SUICIDAL JACKASSES". there is much more to the whole stunting scene than 800mph wheelies and endos. its only as suicidal as you want it to be. there are way cooler things you can do while going slow.

well I gave my XJ550 to a guy I know who's been stunting for a few years now, guy can do slow wheelies on just about anything, the Maxim being no exception, he went the whole length of the parking lot and back again a few times :D ... my wrist and collar bone are still not 100% for me to try it... pics were taken with a phone camera so they are blurry, sorry...

    That looks fun !
but Before you hurt the engine, you might want to look into re-locating the oil pick-up. For sustained 12 O-Clock's your engine will need oil. 8)

yeah... doubt this will happen that often though, bike is mainly for riding around the streets... but I just might have to look into the pickup

I saw this guy before the Laguna Seca race that did amazing stuff a slow speed with his bike.
He did wheelie doughnuts, drop it down, pull it back up, little gas and do a stoppie.
I wish I could find video, he was amazing.

thanks for all the input fellas! i totally dig that guy doing wheelies!! i just recently had a chance to be on an r1 and found that the wieght is substantially less it seemed, or just had a really low center of gravity. anyway i have decided not to even try to convert my xj into a stunt bike, the main reason being that i have no place to do it . i think if i were to start "stunting" i would go with a way different bike

    Nice (low-1-5-0)!

Good to see a pic of the bike stunting that doesn't end poorly.

Were you a part of the 30 some bikes that came blaring past my house last night?
