Anybody have their bike registered / tagged as an antique? Here in PA I am told that you're eligabile if you machine is over 25 years old and your lighting meets DOT standards. The Pros are no mileage restrictions, no need for annual inpection or registration. Obvisouly not good for a new biker not having annual inspection but for one who knows how to maintain their machine it sounds good. The cons are it cost about $100.00 and registration needs to be current. You also have to send in pictures of lighting as evidence and then the DOT will retitle your machine as antique. One more Pro is I think your insurance would be cheaper.

    In Massachusetts, you get restrictions.
    Mileage being one.
You can only ride it to get it fixed, in parades and to exhibitions and such ...
    Not the way to go!

Michigan has restrictions, too, but also includes "occasional use" and you can provide your own plate as long as it's "clear" in the system and matches the year of the bike. I'm doing it for my Norton, but not the Yammies, I ride them too much.

Only restriction in Kansas is the bike has to be 35 years or older.

In MD it's 25 years. I have mine registered as antique. No inspection, cheap plates and insurance. There are restrictions such as mentioned in earlier posts, but how can they possibly be enforced unless police keep a record of mileage. I ride mine quite often and have never even gotten a second glance from a police officer. If I ever do get pulled for the "antique" thing I will say like Wizard, I'm just testing something.

In MD the cops don't seem to bother with gray area stuff. If they do pull you over, you are sure to get a ticket and one that sticks in court.
