    Howdy fellow xjbikers,

I have a 1981 xj550 Seca with the little sport fairing on the front. it really dresses up the front end of the bike and looks cool, but it makes the ride very noisy as it pushes the wind right into the helmet. i was considering cutting down the windshield a bit to see if that would help, but I hate to do it with my stock shield. Does anyone know where you can get a replacement shield for the fairing? Or does anyone have one sitting around in their bone yard?

I imagine the shield is the same on the 82's as well.

Thanks RangerG for the link to the cool site!

They have a "sport" shield for the fairing which looks like exactly what I am interested in getting. Now I just have to pick a color..... maybe purple?!?!?!? 8O

Hey, it's your bike! Purple with pink flowers would look cool. If they weren't $99.00 I'd probably buy a smoke or dark tint.

Ya know, the fairing was marketed as "removable" and the '83 didn't come with one. I'm familiar with the effect you refer to: Just for spits-n-giggles, pull the fairing off and see what you think...you might discover why I sold my '81's fairing to PaulT...

Ken. If you try the shorter windshield let us know what the results are. These stock windshields do dump a lot of air, head height for the rider.
