    Hi everyone,

Just a forward, maybe every time I mention 'synch' you could think of the word 'tune' instead, I used them interchangably in this email, sorry!!

I wanted to say thanks to Rick for all of his help, and thanks to everyone else too. Now that the carbs have been taken apart and cleaned, I'm going to take on the task of putting them together.

I don't think I should have too much trouble with that part, but the part where you have to synch. your carbs, I'm not so familiar with.

In the coming days I should be getting a small cache of parts from Chacal and I need to fit those to the carbs and to the valve covers, but again, that shouldn't be too bad.

Before I start to put them together, is there anything else I missed that should be replaced (given that anything I mention was not damaged, or showing any signs of extreme wear)?

    I'll be getting:
-O-rings and washers for idle screws
    -Float bowl gaskets
    -Float bowl drain screws
    -Valve-cover washer/o-ring/whatever you call them
-Shim remover (for the future, no shims had to be changed this time around, all the clearances were 0.05~0.06 in, and 0.07~0.08 ex.!!)
    -In-line fuel filter
    -New fuel and vacuum line
-Colourtune plug (I have no idea how to use it, but I am sure I'll learn right quick)
-(Chacal's) YICS tool, because I am too lazy to make my own... Well truth be told I have all the parts from a website that says how to make your own, but I'd rather be sure, maybe I will make my own in the future anyway. It took me forever to find a #6x32 threaded rod, I had to go to a steel manufacturer.

And is there a guide to how to synch. your carbs? I never split the carbs from each other to do the throttle seals (as per Rick's advice, tyvm!), but will I still have to adjust those synch. screws anyway? Are the pilot screws the only things you adjust when tuning?

From my haynes manual, I don't even remember seeing anything about Pilot screws (other than DON'T TOUCH THEM FOR THE LOVE OF GOD/EMISSIONS!), or anything else except the synch screws... Are there no other mixture screws (a high speed screw comes to mind)?

Also, what do I do to 'synch' (or tune) my floats?

Alternativly, since there may exist a guide, that I couldn't find, on how to do this, a link to that would be excellent!!!

    Thanks again everyone,

    -Matt

I have all the bench sync and live sync instructions in text doc format. PM your email and I'll send them along. I got tired of trying keep track of the URLs.

You are going to want to bench sync then tune the mixture and live sync. Not hard at all.

Thanks for the links, I'll go ahead and order the parts.

    Good for you!
    Hope it goes well.

I did not see the carb synch tool on your list.
    Obvious I guess.
    You have one, right?
Vacuum gauge from JC Whitney fits the bill.

I found myself replacing a few jets when I went down the road your traveling. Do all your jets look good?

I did not tune my floats ... fwiw.

    Colortune plug .. smart.

    Best wishes
