I've seen a lot of posts about doing compression checks and how to do it and am interested in buying one these "tools" for my collection. Obviously I don't want to spend a ton of money but don't want a piece of junk either.
Does anyone have a preferred type/brand? Approx cost for a decent one?

    Thanks

Anywhere from $15-$95 depending on what you get. I have one I bought at an auto parts store for about $20 some years ago and it works fine. Just make sure it has the right size spark plug adapter and you're good.

Bought mine at harbor freight for <$10 - works fine and includes adapters for several plug sizes.
