ACTUALLY IT'S NOT A BIG DEAL IF YOU DON'T RIDE IN THE SNOW. SEE, HERE WE ONLY SALT WHEN IT'S NECESSARY. AND THEN IN THE SPRING, THE RAIN WASHES IT AWAY.

RIGHT, I JUST MOVED HERE FROM ROCHESTER, if you think the salt is gone
just because it rained... your living in disney land, that salt gets GROUND down into the ashpalt, mixed with road oil and gunk, and becomes part of the
chemical makeup of the asphalt and road gunk.., so that WHEN IT RAINS, IT GETS SPLASHED ALL UP UNDER YOUR VEHICLE ... WHERE IT TAKES UP RESIDENCE IN SOME VERY BAD PLACES. .... and does some nasty things
    under your vehicle.

SALT DOES NOT DISSOLVE IT SEPERATES, INTO LITTLE MICROSCOPIC PEICES...

IN NEW YORK MOST VEHICLES LAST 1O YEARS BEFORE THEY HIT THE SCRAP PILE FROM FALLING APART INTO PIECES...

FAIR ENOUGH, I SUPPOSE. Although I've never finished off a vehicle that was less than 15 years old or under 190,000 miles. Also, it's not generally salt-worthy weather for more than about four or five months.

And they definitely do use some seriously caustic shit around here, but not riding in the rain makes a difference. I had a mechanic from Penske truck rental tell me they had a guy who leased a semi- tractor and went pretty much exclusively up and down the Thruway, and the liquid stuff they use rotted a hole in the bottom of the transmission in about three winters.
