Or how to find out? 1982 XS400J. I know they're Mikunis, but don't know anything more. Do they have the model/part number stamped on them somewhere?

Also, I'm gonna bite the bullet and take the damned things off and go through them. Worst case scenario what parts am I gonna need to bug Chacal for?

I've had the float on the left one get stuck on me three times now and I think that may be the root cause of all my other problems. We'll start there at least. The bike supposedly sat for about 15 years before I bought it, so what else should I replace while I've got them apart, just on general principle?

Yeah, but that thread doesn't mention anything about which carbs a Maxim 400 uses.

    Okay, noob question here.

What do you mean by left and right? Does the size of the main jet differ between the left and right carburetors?

wrist watches go on the left, so do clutch levers, throttle on right, while sitting on the bike facing forward
jets are the same in carb #1 and #2

According to the parts fiche the main jets are different on this model. That's why I listed a left and right main jet.

Hmm... Interesting. The manual I've got (for the Seca 400) shows two different mains as well. 127.5 on the left and 117.5 on the right.

Your signature says Maxim, not Seca.

The specs I gave you are for an XS400J. According to the fiche, the XS400RJ has different jetting.

I do have a Maxim. I couldn't find a Maxim manual. Seca was the closest I could find.

I'd just like to give a shout out to the boys in this thread. As someone who just got this low production model Maxim, I appreciate the info you are all throwing out there. Helps a lot, thanks.
