Everything started out ok. Girl gets on back and after a few minutes looks back and tells me the chain and sprocket fell off. Luckily, I was able to make it home without any trouble. Where's a good place to get a new chain and rear sprocket for a 1982 650 Maxim?

All maxim 650's are shaft driven...either it is an xs 650 or a maxim 550.

Jim, I do have chains, sprockets, and all the associated parts you'll need for an XJ550 model (as insanity points out, XJ650 models are shaft driven).......drop me a PM for further details once you determine what bike you have! (I have no parts for XS model bikes)

Why I do believe the Polish fellow is correct; I think I heard this before...especailly since he wouldn't have made it ANYWHERE on a chain drive bike without the aforementioned components...ow, my leg, my leg...

a picture of the missing items might be useful to help everyone identify what you have and what you need.

I thought is was worth a laugh. A red head chemist was on the back and was alarmed by the big clunking sound the bike makes when you put it in gear when the traffic light is ready to turn green. I started to leave it in 1st as she was leaning over to see what all the clunking was about but after 2 known long light intersections the call came in "The chain is gone and so is the sprocket!" Told her I'd look into it later. Believe it or not!
