Hey everyone. Would like to introduce myself. I'm James, and I bought myself an XJ750 Maxim about 4 weeks ago. I love it. It's plenty quick enough and it's got more presence than a sports bike which is what everyone seems to go for here in the UK. Looking forward to meeting you all!

Hi pernig, welcome, at this point some of the guys will be expecting me to use a typically English colloquialism, so perhaps I'll see you on the frog.

    Hi Pernig,
I'm in the UK too (Gloucestershire) Got a 650 (chopped/bobbed). Had it about 5 weeks and am STILL reading huge amounts of invaluable information in these forums. It's totally addictive.

Hey in the UK! Love this site which give great insight to Maxim stuff. Have a XJ700 myself....2nd XJ bike I've owned.

Frog, that's me....don't tell a southern(US) guy that frog means something else in the UK...say like shag. Shag is a dance step here in south carolina.

I need to know when I am talking naughty when I visit the isles

    maxim82,
Rhming slang (cockney rhyming slang) is a group of phrases developed by cockney londoners.
Rhyming Slang phrases are derived from taking an expression which rhymes with a word and then using that expression instead of the word. For example the word "look" rhymes with "butcher's hook". In many cases the rhyming word is omitted - so you won't find too many Londoners having a "bucher's hook" at this site, but you might find a few having a "butcher's".

    Here's a few exaples:

    apple & pears = stairs
    jack horner = corner
    Pete Tong = Wrong
    Adam & Eve = Believe
    Aristotle = Bottle
    Bacon bits = Tits
    Dog & Bone = Phone
    Rub-A-Dub = Pub
    Plates of meat = feet
    north & south = mouth
