I was just wondering if anyone knew if a clutch (basket and everything) from a 1982 XJ650 Seca Turbo would fit in a 1980 XJ650? Just looking at pics it looks like it would fit, but just want to double check. Thanks for any input.

They are different part numbers, and I don't have a good idea what the difference is, but most of the XJ650 Turbo items are a heavier-duty version of the standard 650 items. It would be interesting to learn if anyone has made a successful swap of these.

If the part numbers are different I'll bet it probably won't fit (sorry.) The reason I say this is when I needed to replace the clutch basket on my '83 550, I plugged the part number into "OEM lookup" and it came up with 3 pages of bikes that part was used in. They used the same clutch basket all the way up through like 1998 or so on all the 550's and 600's, and it carried the same part number. A lot of part numbers cross into different bikes, some of the 550 rear brake is the same as the 400, etc, but with the same part number. It may fit, but I kinda doubt it.

the cluth boss, clutch boss spring, compression spring, are different by part number
also some of the push lever parts are different but that not part of the basket
So what chacal was saying looks to be the, at least by part# look up

There you go. Same situation with the clutch basket on the 550s I was talking about, a LOT of the other "guts" NOT the same part numbers, but the basket was the same. I ended up with a bunch of 600 parts I'll never need, but the clutch was cheaper off eBay than anywhere else (sorry Len.)

I held off and found a '81 xj650 clutch for $23 and $13 for shipping. Hope it fits in my '80 cuz I'm goin' insane not having a bike to ride. I've almost bought a new bike 3 times since mine's been out of commission.
