I have a 1983 XJ900RK. I'm not entirely enthused with my square headlight, or the boxy fairings. I'm looking to swap it for a crotch rocket style headlight, and front fairing.

I'm not really picky on any particular shape, model, or style; anything somewhat sportier will suffice. How do I know what I can swap with? are there charts somewhere? measurements I can take? wiring I have to be certain of?

Existing front; with and without the front fairing:

I'd love to do something like Mixam's modified front:

    I like it without.

Looks like an old school streetfighter.

    Thanks ease.

Heck.... maybe I will save me some money, and leave it as is.

If you leave it without the fairing, you might think about changing to a round headlight. Just my opnion.

Basically just look around at different crotch rockets and try to find the look that you like most. I chose the 'busa because of the single headlight configuration and the projector beam. They come with fairing stays, so it's best to find a farining with a stay that doesn't have too many connecting points so you don't restrict your handlebar movement. You'll have to change your handle bars too in order for it to look right.

I would actually go with a late 90's ninja front fairing for that bike. Like a zx9r front end or something.

I'd cut the fairing across the sides underneath the front intake holes. Then you'd mount the fairing stay lower on the neck of the bike so then it will be close to the wheel. And you'd have to put either drag bars or clubman bars on it.

    Have fun!

I agree with VET. Leave it "nekkid" and switch it to a round headlight.
