Sounds more like you may have a fuel leaking problem. These bikes have a tendancy to do this. First check your oil and see if it smells ike gas. If it does you NEED to change it before you ride your bike or else you may have some problems. If it is fuel that caused this you have either a stuck float or a bad fuel valve on you tank. Hope that I may have helped. Good luck!

put it on the center stand and check the oil level, you want to be 3/4 of the way up the window
you don't want to hear this, but it could be bad rings blowing into the bottom end

drain some out, make a big mess then see what happens
i'd spray that air filter with half a can of brake cleaner, let it dry and put it back
the intake on the airbox is clear, right

I would have said it was coming from the breather, but you say it's coming from the carbs.
Only one place it can be comeing from then.

I think your oil was horribly overfilled and it pumped out the breather into the airbox. XYXJ650 is right, there is a tendency for these bikes to have a carb issue which fills the crankcase with gas. However, PEOPLE seem to fill the engine with too much oil with great frequency as well. FOOL PROOF OIL CHECKING procedure: Bike on sidestand, look at sight glass. You should see nothing. Stand bike up toward vertical (may require assistant.) As you stand the bike up, you will see the oil level rise in the sight glass. Correct level is between the upper mark and completely full, with just a "bubble" showing at the top (representing a SLIGHT overfill.) If there is oil showing in the sight glass with the bike on the SIDESTAND you have way too much oil in there.

And don't forget to change the air filter when you get the oil level ironed out. With oil wicked into it, it can't pull sufficient air and will run poorly.
