Oil Leak....

    Here's a picture on the 1982 650 Maxim of the spot where I have isolated the leak to. The crankcase was overfilled by the owner. Some was too much oil and I believe some to have been fuel that flooded in when he tried to start the bike with a stuck float before I rebuilt the carbs.

    The leak is MUCH slower since the crank was refilled with fresh oil to the proper level, but it is still there. This is on the left side just inboard of the left side driver's peg. The bolt in the center looks a little discolored... that's a drip of oil fixin' to drip off...

    Dutch, take a look at this pic and see if this is the same bolt head.
    If it's what I think it is, it's the middle case drain plug and has a sealing washer on it. It should be drained each time you change the engine oil.

    Got it! I pulled the plug, drained that little pocket and got it back in with the leak fixed.
