98% sure i need to rebuild the entire top end of my 81 xj50 Maxim. need valves (maybe springs and lifters), gaskets, rings. not getting compression over 100psi on 3 out of 4. #3 is at 70psi, 1 is at 80psi, 2 is at 90. 4 is 125lbs. way too low, correct? 25500 miles, the pipes are bluing at the the head from excessive heat. lame. anyway, would like to buy a kit NOS or OEM, or used parts that include everything i need. pm me if you have what i need.

    What size Maxim?

I have a xj750 top end I could be talked out of. The cylinders have been bored with new Yamaha piston kits to match, all gaskets except for the base gasket (ripped it). Valves are reseated with new stem seals; cams are used but look great. If interested I can get you pictures and more details. It won't be cheap but it will be a lot less then buying the parts new from the dealer (I still have the receipt from the parts and work).

What makes you think you need rings? It may just be your head leaking compression your rings may be fine it could just be the head screwing things up. If i were you id pop it off and take a look youll know what you need to do once the heads off.
