Hey! This is a gas to find a forum for XJ's... killer idea.

I just picked up a low mileage 82 Maxim 750 for cheaps, because it needs rear brakes, and one front fork seal is leaking. I don't have a manual for the bike yet, and it's getting late so I thought I'd ask for some feedback about replacing front fork seals and rear brakes, because I can't plow through archives tonight.

Any resources for parts, or special resources for XJ's you can turn me on to would be appreciated. I'll be going through the bike and wrenching on it myself.

My last bike was a 79 XS1100 ... great bike.
Also had a DT400 Thumper .. another great bike

    Yamaha makes a great bike.

    Thanks

Brake shoes can be had most anywhere, I got mine from Dennis Kirk.
Fork seals are best got from your local Yam dealer. You can get them cheaper, but the Yam quality is way superior. You will also need the dust seals.

Flash, welcome to the gang. You might want to give the folks at Mountain View Cycle (out on El Camino, near Fletcher PKWY I think, been 8 years) a visit, they served me well for years (so did Grand Prix but they were a little stingy on the discount side). Fork seals are not the easiest thing to tackle but by no means the hardest. Some good tools, a manual (Haynes, Clymer, or factory, take your pick), a good 3 or 4 hours and your set. Rear brake drum pads are a snap, literally.

Old Bike Barn is a good place to look for things xj related also.
