I like many of you have been attempted to find a larger sissy bar for my '85 maxim 700. I was searching ebay and came across a maxim 700 for sale with a luggage rack and saddle bags that looked awesome. I emailed the guy and asked him where he purchased his sissy bar and this is what he reponded with:

"Go to Ebay Motors, Motorcycle Parts & Access Type in yamaha , click on any luggage rack that looks like it, It came from Hong Kong look in meet the seller , if it says Kakahealthcare Click on. There will see a lot of luggage racks, Look for one that says Yamaha Vstar custom 400 650 13" back rest set. The mtg. brkts.which bolt to rack and back rest bolt to the Maxim bar, have some one hold it in place , mark the holes, drill and tap 3/8-16 stainless bolts. you may have to alter the rubber stems (turn signals) to get tha brkts in line, or move it forward, but most likely the back rest will be over the rear seat. It wasn't a hard job except notching the rubber stems, you will need to cut the rubber down to the steel tube in the center , I used a Hack saw in a vice. Good luck,

No I dont have a pic. I saw it on a maxim that was for sale on ebay, dont know if it is still on there or not. I emailed the guys and asked him where he got his and that is what he sent. It looked awesome though. I am planning on trying this winter sometime.
