Anyone know of a good reliable shipping company?

My boyfriend is moving here to Tenn. from Calgary, Alberta. Since it's winter time up there and his bike is not going to see the road before he moves next May, we figured we would ship it down here in the next month or so.
I'm not exactly sure how this works... Do they take his bike apart? Do they just put it in a big crate?
Anyway does anyone have any suggestions on a shipping company that will ship it from Canada? We know it's going to be REALLY expensive, but cheaper than him selling his bike, then buying a new one ^^
My other question, if anyone knows, importing a vehicle from Canada what kind of modifications would we have to do to make it legal in the U.S.?

Being located only about 20 miles from the border, I can check into the regs in regard to importation and save you some long distance phone calls. PM me with email address and I'll get back to you by midweek. I BELIEVE there won't be anything other than possibly having to certify it is for your own use and not resale. (Or you could claim "vacationing" and then fight the paperwork after it's here.) As for shipping: I had my Seca 550 shipped from Wisconsin to Michigan by a transport company for just under $500. They picked the bike up from the guy I bought it from (had to be in running order) loaded it into a covered auto hauler and brought it to my door. Unloaded it in front of the house and that was it. No draining, crating, disassembly, nada. I used: http://www.proluxautotransport.com/home.php and I see on their site they will do international as well. I'm sure it will cost quite a bit more, but for comparison what I paid was less than half what a couple other carriers had quoted. Look/call around, I got something like 5 or 6 quotes before deciding. Some have "terminal to terminal" rates but I didn't like the idea of my bike being dropped off somewhere I wasn't and the shipper was reluctant to deliver it anywhere on his end, but could work in your case.

I just completed a registration from Ontario into Florida and this is how it goes in Florida:

First you have to arrange for a state inspection at the MVD and all they were interested in was the VIN number and a speedo in MPH.

Next I took that documention to the taxation office, paid the state tax on the bike's value and bought the plate with the new title (nice looking document we do not have in Ontario). I went home (my winter residence in Florida)and installed the plate and went for a ride.

Tennessee doesn't have state vehicle inspection, so that won't be a big deal. His Speedo is digital and does metric and standard. No state taxes either, just the local county wheel tax for vehicles. So registering won't be a big expensive deal.

His bank he is financed through said he could pay in U.S. funds after he moves, just not with a U.S. check. It had to be a money order or online payment.

Shipping his bike and belongings is easier than actually getting HIM here.
Why can't Canadians just walk on over and say "I'm HERE!" It's Canada for crying out loud.

Maybe it would be easier and cheaper to sell the Triumph and buy an old Seca after he moves?

    JUST KIDDING, JUST KIDDING!!! :D

Hey I suggested that. His reply was "How about we trade your Seca in for my new Ducati and I give you the Triumph"

That, my friend, is never going to happen.
