I recently picked one up for my 82 Seca on ebay and got to wondering.

My 81 had the amber lense but I have seen some 81's with the clear lense. I dont think I have ever seen an 82 model with the amber lense?

What's the story behind the amber lense...Was Yamaha forced to stop installing them on the bikes?

Feb 13, 1981 Yamaha issued a bulletin to the dealers to remove and replace all amber auxillary lights with clear units.

Probably legal reasons..... Back in 86 I almost received a ticket because of the amber lense on my 81. Luckily since it said Yamaha on it the officer did not give me THAT ticket.

I would like to know about this too, my '81 has an amber, and I sure don't want a ticket for something Yamaha did. I am the original owner, and years ago it went to a Yamaha dealer several times and this was never mentioned to me. Anyone know if the clear lens can be had for a reasonable price, without messing with Ebay.

Mozark, I just picked up a complete amber auxillary light on eaby for $15. I would think the more plentiful clear units could be had at a cheaper price
