I was just wondering if anyone on here had put an aftermarket tank on thier maxim or seca? Im looking at some norton type cafe tanks but dont really know whats all involved in changing the tank and mounting the new one. It doesnt seem like most of the tanks mount like ours? Any help would be appreciated.

If you are just looking for a larger tank volume, the 750 maxim tank will fit your 650 maxim just fine.

Even a sportster tank can be made to fit.

The stock Seca 650 tank makes for a great caferacer tank (IMHO)... just check out my pics. 8)

How about a suzuki gs400 tank?

As far as mods go... It seems to go back and forth here on wether you can just swap the seca and maxim tanks. I think for the 650's it's a straight up swap.
Otherwise you will have to fab some mounting brackets... if you're going hardcore with your cafe then you probably will have to do some fabrication real soon, so it would make a great starting point!

I believe from what I've read in other threads that the seca tank will go on the maxim frame just fine, but the maxim seat will require modification to fit with that tank.
