Hello from Minnesota. I'm 62,been ridng since my dad put an engine on my bicycle in '54(tried to get rid of me?). Have had 35 or so bikes over the years. Raced an RD400 5yrs in the70s. Sold 4 upon retirement in June but soon felt naked w only my '02 Futura to ride. Found clean '77XS360 w 4.8k as a town bike. Wasn't long b4 I needed a project(besides my ongoing '75 Water Buffalo)-So I happened upon an '82 650 Seca(always liked them). I've fixed up quite a few bikes over the yrs but this one I'm excited about(or maybe it's oldheimers). If any of you are near and still like to narrow the "Chicken Stripes" I take weekday rides in the beautiful hill country of Wisconsin east of Alma. Enough palaver for an intro. I have a few questions for the tech area. John Pierson"GUZZIJOHN"-Champlin,Mn

    Welcome,
the only time you are getting old is, when they take your license away, because you can't pass the driving test. :D

Thank you all! I'll be pulling the head today and will get the lump out of the frame soon. Found one scored cam bearing(chunk of crud must've got to it.)but the rest look fine. Pulled front cam guide out and it looks ok,but that piece of the primary guide is like rock?? Hardened from age&heat? Are they flexible when fresh? I think I found the gasket set difference-later heads are line bored with plastic end plugs like other fours I've had. If more damage is found it may go on the shelf and the Buffalo assembled. Either way I'll finish it sometime-She deserves to be brought back. Pix? maybe I have to relearn the process every time I post something to ebay or craig's.GuzziJohn

Welcome GJ ... another oldheimer here.

I had a much beloved 75 Water Buffalo ... sadly I sold it to buy an XT500.
    Dumb!

Any road - loved the old Crimson Red Buffalo; easy to maintain, fairly fast, simple and reliable as a blacksmith's anvil.

CV carbs on it were great. GT750 had so much low end torque I could start out in almost any gear, fully loaded and she would just grunt forward without even a stumble. I used to start it by one HAND (not by foot) just to impress other riders how easy it was. Got 52 mpg at cruise.

Made a fine road bike with 3-1 pipes ...
Fond memories of a wonderbike gone by. TD
