Man, it was COLD out there but a ton of fun. People looking at me like I'm nuts. And geez all mighty, I need tires for the XJ900 AND shocks. Felt like was on a pogo-ing on beach balls! Even though I was freezing I didn't want to go home. And Rick O Matic is right, that engine is a BEAST! Once you hit 5000 rpm, it's like hitting the afterburners. You just hang on for dear life and hope you don't get airborne!
Anyway, it's about 8 below zero celcius now (17F) right now and snowing. God I wanna move to California!

Its snowing here as well. I was hoping to take a spin this afternoon but old man winter had a different idea.

I did ride to work yesterday in below freezing temperatures.
On the way home I took the slight detour that includes a few twisties.
    It was fun!

It was actually gorgeous in Colorado Springs today (we had plenty of snow last week, though). High of about 55F today, plus sunny, which makes all the difference here.

So, I did get to ride the bike a bit today. I was doing some troubleshooting of a tach problem I have (the ECU "loses" tach for one cycle every once in a while, but only when warm and then only at certain RPM trigger points). This is pretty much the last problem I have with the fuel injection conversion other than some fine tuning. It's more an annoyance than anything that really affects ridability, but I need to fix it regardless.

Anyway, the good news is, even though the bike's been sitting for a couple of weeks, been pretty cold in that time, and the weather wasn't that warm today, with the fuel injection it was still, turn on the key, press the starter button, and she started right up.

And even though the tweaks I made to the crank trigger wheel didn't help the tach loss issue, the "test" ride was still fun.

    Cheers,
    Paul

I've got an itchy right wrist too, sucks having your first bike so late in the season hahah, it's made me want to move somewhere warmer :)

So i can't ride now, decided to take the back end off and clean out that 25 year old grit and dirty grease/oil buildup. Get that old non o-ring chain off of there lol hope i can get a x-ring with a clip master link!!!

The 83 Shadow 500 rebuild is making the winter go faster too :)
It's been quite fun to rip it completely apart and get the frame repainted, rebuild the engine etc. Hopefully start to slap her back together next week.

Yeah, that's about what my street looks like right now... Maybe I'll put snow tires on the bikes ;-)

Getting cold here in Riverside.. Think its about 62 degrees outside. Supposed to get to the mid 40's tonight.. Decided to light a fire in the fireplace to warm the living room back up to the high 70's like I am used to :) Sorry just had to toss that out. Would go riding but have had to work this weekend :(
Ca. does have some good points about weather but everything else in the last decade or two has the state going into the crapper.

I'm pissed. I live in freakin montana and we have ZERO snow!!! I'm a skiier as well as a biker, and my bike doesn't work, neither, so i can't go riding if i wanted to. lame-o

I was riding a buddy's rig a week or so ago (before the valves started getting quieter on me....) while he is teaching kids to ski at breckenridge, CO. It was a little below freezing at night, and yes, it was damn cold. Googles, hat and gloves made it alright... kinda felt like i was skiing too...:)

    Sean, buddy,
If you were up here in Toronto tonight with the blowing snow and -26C wind chill, you'd take the crapper and everything in it to stay in SoCal. I know I would.
Example; This morning I go out to start the car. It cranks a bit and dies. Luckily, back in my heated garage, I had the batteries out of both bikes and on the floater charger. So I wired them in sequence with a spare set of jumper cables to my car battery. The two bike batteries got me started. I drove straight to the local auto parts joint and bought an Interstate battery. $120 bucks later... thanks a ton, Old Man Winter!

Just like you Baz, I also was out on the 900 today. The other similarity is that it was 22 degrees here for a while, then got up to 26....Celsius! Sun is shining, not a cloud in the sky. Forecast is for "a shower or two Friday", otherwise fine. Of course, the good weather won't last. We often get a few days rain in March.
I don't know how you guys manage to live in such climates!

It was 21 F this morning and 28 F this afternoon but dry.

Snow in the grass but none on the road.

Shifting seems a little sluggish in the 20s F.

I dress like I would to go skiing and the cold is not too much a big deal.

I am in the same boat as bigfitz i think i'm going to go on vacation to the uk so they can school me on riding in the snow... i remember talking to a guy from the uk on my 600r forum and he was pumped about his new heated grips and seat and had video of riding on ice and snow covered roads at highway speeds and all i could think about was how i'm lucky to get through one winter without falling on my a$$ more than a dozen times and how much that hurts and just could not wrap my head around what it would be like at those speeds couse i KNOW it hurts when its nice and sunny out

OK, now I have TWO reasons to move to Australia; the weather and the XJ900's.
