I read the FAQ section on How to replace Instrument Bulbs.

Just one question though. What kind of tiny light bulbs are required for Oil Pressure, Turns etc? There seem to be two types or styles of these wee bulbs ...

Anyone with a few details? Maybe a pic or two of the proper bulbs, any particular brand?

Will the instruments operate properly with LEDs, e.g. stay lit?

chacal has 'em if the auto parts doesn't (they're "old school") I couldn't find them anywhere over the counter. Do you really want a photo? I can go take one if you want, but they're not much to look at.

They're type 194 bulbs. I didn't have any trouble finding them in local auto parts stores.

Yes, you can convert them to LED's. I have a post here that gives the details and the source where I bought mine: http://www.xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=14068.html

If you want to go LED for these, then you will probably have to order them instead of buying locally.

Taildragger, take this opportunity and make the switch to LED's. While your at it switch the license plate bulb as well. Like SQLGuy says in his post you will be able to pick up just over an amp in doing so

I reccomend this company. Good quality lights at good prices http://www.superbrightleds.com/
