I pulled the plugs on my 750 today for winterization and would like some feedback.

The plugs shown are BP6ES (hotter) and have roughly 1100 miles on them. I am concerned that the spotting shown on #2 may be caused from too much heat?

    Thoughts?

they all look pretty lean to me. there seems to be almost no tan on the insulators (or my monitor is going out).

I'd turn the mixture screws out a bit on all four... maybe 1/4 turn or so.

I am wondering if going back to the BP7ES plugs would put it right where it belongs?

Man, it runs so good right now I hate to touch it. But yeah I was supprised when I pulled them out and realize now that I need to switch to colder plugs.

What exactly is the Champion equal to the BP7ES? Some sites say NY9C others say NY7C? Maybe just stay with the NGK?

Champions suck! I wouldnt run them in my weed eater, let alone my motorcycle. Get yourself a set of new factory spec NGKs and be done with it, you wont be sorry.

I guess I am biased against champions with my experiences using them in automobiles. I put them in my ford contour v6 and ranger and they only lasted about 6 months in the ranger. They immediately had to be removed from of the contour as it ran like a 4 cyl and the service engine light came on. I thought maybe it was just something with fords and their ignition systems that fire one bank backwards. So I used them in my Infiniti a year or so later. Same results....poor performance and horrible fuel economy. I have used NGKs in everything ever since and have not had a problem.

the plug your running seems too Hot, decrease one temp and re-run your chops.
currently rob, your running dangerously lean and without external cooling...
...your gonna get hot, and possibly need a new engine :D
    OR
the hot burning plug could be throwing us all off regarding the reading of said plug.

    Definitely Lean.
You could use a little color on those Insulators.
A little bit would be OK.
Some color; even if its Light Brown.

The way you are set-up right now has the Bike running real FAST out of the hole.
That's because the Mixture is so Lean its going-off like a Flashbulb!
The problem with that is ... that Lean a Mixture BURNS too Hot for Aluminum.
The Head and Pistons are Aluminum!

You aren't too far away from Dialing-in a SAFE and Lean Mixture.
Move the Mixture Screws OUT about the width of a Nickel.
Read the Plugs set up there.
Then, Enrich or Lean-Out the Mix the width of a Dime (at a time) until you get the Insulators looking like they spent the whole day at the beach.
    Sun-tanned ... at LEAST
Brown paper bag ... if you can Dial it in.
Between "Paper bag" and "Brown Crayon" ... would be perfect!

Sun tanned to Paper Bag is ... On the Lean side for faster acceleration.
