Okay, I'll start things off. It's jan 01/09 here in the frozen north and I got a digital camera for Xmas so I've been trying to use it and took some pics of the garage in the new/old house we bought a few months ago. The garage is one of those that's under the house, like a bunker but relatively warm in winter and not bad for space. Yep, that's a Rossi calendar on the left and that's the famous Rossi going onto the dirt to pass Stoner on the inside at Laguna this past summer. The move that defined a season. Can you tell I'm a Rossi fan?
And yeah, that's the revived 83 XJ900 Seca ratbike. Still needs some work but running very sweet now - and that's with pods. Though I must say, pod equipped bikes take a bit longer to warm up than those with airboxes. A buddy told me its because the pods don't retain any heat, like the airboxes do.
And the other pic's my 81 XJ650 with seat off since I converted stock fuse box to blades - finally. Thanks for the encouragement, Mr. RickOmatic.
And those pipes under the 650 are the old exhaust - Kidding. They're the remains of the house leaking main drain that I had to replace during the holidays. Fun huh?
Okay, so let's see some other folks garage shots. Yes, I'm THAT bored. We've got another 3 months of winter to go here. Yeah, pretty brutal...

I think the pod warm up time may be because installing pods also bypasses PCV. Most people put a "breather" filter on the PCV connection (left rear of crankcase), but that doesn't exactly make sense since PCV is designed to have gases being pulled from the crankcase into the airbox for reburning. These gases will be warmer than the ambient air, so should speed warmup a bit.

baz666, yes it is a big screen TV. you have to give the girl something to do while you are working. It is also good for working on the bikes and watching motorcycle racing, hokey, or football. Did you spot to other 3 bikes in the garage? 1 race, 1 in construction and 1 in pieces. You need a big screen when you spend that much time in there.

Man, you've got to reclaim that garage of yours! It's indecent that your bikes can't be in there. I had a bunch of other people's junk in my garage too. I told them all they had a week to come get their crap or it was going to the dump or to the scrapyard. It got cleaned out pretty quick.

OK, here you go; pretty much open the door and snap a couple. #1 is south wall, #2 is north wall, the tail of the black project bike ties them together. Lot's o' stuff, not lots o' room.

Told the wife that when the economy and house prices get back to normal we're downsizing house-wise and upsizing garage wise!! 8O "As long as I have a room for my hobby.." was her only reply :!: what a great wife :D

Sometimes I can actually get the front-end of my Chevy Monte Carlo or my wife's Honda Civic in here for an Oil Change.
That ain't going to happen until the flowers start blooming, again!

pjb03. If I wasn't 3/4 of the way across the continent, those two red Seca's would be coming home with me! How many of those bikes are going west with you?

Not quite a museum, but thank you.:)

The silver frame is a polished 87 GSXR1100 with a Mcintosh 8" over swingarm. I'm probably going to sell it. I purchased it as a roller with bodywork. I'm keeping the bodywork as spares for my 87.

I hope they find a good home.

I'm bringing everything but the 2 red Secas and possibly the GSXR roller. That is unless you want to come to Santa Fe, New Mexico and pick up the 82's.

No, I'm okay. I took the left rear lens off to change a bad bulb and neglected to put the lens back on before taking the photos. Actually, I'm thinking of taking off those lunch-box sized rear signals lights and replacing them with mini-stalks. But I may have to get a more powerful flash unit. When I put mini-stalks on my XJ650 Maxim, they wouldn't flash with the stock flasher unit that lives just behind the horn. So I put in a universal automotive flasher unit and the signals flashed fine afterwards. I was also thinking of doing the same with the front signals on the XJ900. But they're nice spotless black numbers that Rich DeZago gave me so I'll probably keep them on the bike. But if you want the rear signals, let me know.

I'm not a big fan of the "lunchbox" sized indicators either but trying to keep mine fairly stock so they stay for now. Thanks for hte offer but I'm good for indicators at the moment :)

Where you at with the rat bike and what do you need for it?

I'm feeling motorcycle challenged - my garage looks naked with only the one bike in it. Having teenagers is inhibiting me collecting more at the moment.

i keep most of my stuff in the basement, water doesn't condensate on stuff like it does in the garage.

thanks, that picnic tble is my dads idea, love throwing my crab on there.. the arctic cat sign blew off some store down by clio, ended up like 2 miles away and stopped at my cousins house, who loves skidoos and hates cats, so we got it, we pug a buzzilion lightbulbs behind it and you can plug it in...

and no, thats a cb750 custom tank, looks clost, except for the small rise at the top and it has a "seca" bend at the side, where its flat..

There's been an update. My good buddy Brock has sold me his beautifully maintained 1986 Kawi GPz900R Ninja for far below the market price. So she's joined my '81 XJ650H Maxim and '83 XJ900RK Seca in the bunker. The GPz is apparently called Onishi and I can't wait to find some empty backroads in the upcoming riding season to let her shriek. Right now it's -17 Celsius (approx minus 1000F or might as well be) here in our "World Class City" Trawna. World class... yeah sure... Freeze the
#*!%#! off a brass monkey world class! Anyway, at least I've got my harem down in the bunker to keep me company.

Tool kit, etc. storage area...........came stock on all XJ550 Maxim models. 750 Seca models had a "similar-but-different" area (and non-locking) inside the rear tail cowling, under the seat. 750 Maxim's had a non-locking storage area behind the rear seat.

Everyone else did without, or used the little "tool tray" that hung between the frame rails under the seat, or with the nearly-useless paper-tray that snapped onto/into the seat pan.

700 owners have a semi-useful area built into the side of the battery box for tool storage, and you can usually cram a couple of other items down into that area, too (plus they also got a storage tray under the seat).

Now that Turtlemann14 is by gawd how a garage is supposed to look.

Not like some sissified dance hall with every dust mote swept hourly and with huge open spaces dotted at irregular intervals with pristine specimens of motorcycledom..

If you're like me I bet you can lay your hand on any item you need at a moments notice. Well, that is, unless it takes you 3 or 4 weeks because you can't remember where you last saw it! You find these items after you have cussed the wife(under your breath of course) for moving it or putting something else that you left in the house on top of it. Or, maybe the neighbor borrowed it and just "forgot" to let you know. Has the son-in-law been over lately? Well, you get the idea.

    Nice digs!

Speaking of the frozen north, I couldn't resist after several days of -20 to -25 F here in Duluth. The exhaust from a fighter jet couldn't keep my 70 year old garage (which is more of a chipmonk habitat) warm in these temps. The thermometer is from around noon yesterday, -2F. I do have a bike cover, I just took it off to take the pic.
