Has anyone considered adding a window to the back of the float bowl?
I would like to be able to look at the back of the carbs and SEE if the fuel is at the proper height.

Never gave it much thought. My Dad would say just another thing to break.

I'd be worried about getting a good seal to prevent leaks.

You could machine a nice slot with a little groove in it and cast it in resin. Then grind to the shape of the float bowl and polish smooth. Might actually work INITIALLY but I'd be worried about long-term disintegration. Or, you could get some copper tubing, and...

    Here is a thought

Two pieces of transparent fuel line.
One piece connected from bowl #1's drain to bowl #2's drain.
The middle of the fuel line is secured above the top of the bowl.
Same for bowl #3 and #4.

Then open the bowl drain screws.

This should only take a few minutes to cobble together.

Sounds nice, but I don't think the level would be accurate if the top of the tube wasn't open to air.

A clear plastic bowl would be a nice aftermarket offering, though.

Or, just jettison the carbs and FI it!

The problem there is that the fuel level is app' on the gasket line.
if you realy want a visual aid, 4 clear tubes from the drain, to x4 manifold, single copper tube going up through the tank to vent at the top.

What good reason is there to compromise a component part with modifications that would be at risk for leaking fuel?

You guys can dream-up some pretty scary stuff, ... huh?

The reason is that you can't know for sure exactly what is going on inside the carbs. A window into the carbs would make diagnosing problems so much simpler.

How about a bowl (or a set of bowls) that you swap on when needed?

since there's a window in the master cylinder thats more important than the float bowl, i don't see why not
but it would be too dark in there to see anything, maybe some led's in the bowl that come on when the floats open, green would be nice

    Hi,
There is already such a bowl out there. I have clear bowls on my Kawasaki ,they are 38mm "Lectron Carbs". There are a couple of pics of my 72' Kawasaki H2 Triple 8O on this site in the forum section, (other motorcycles) , (cool Kawi cafe, Dec 30th) you can see them in those pics. Better in the second pic.
