Does anyone have any pix of an install of one of these on their bike?

I want to use my Tom Tom on my XJ750J and am thinking of running a fused link direct from the battery, up the frame backbone under the tank and mounting the aux outlet up near the bars or head light.
I want easy access to unplug, but need a way to shelter from weather when not in use.
I'd rather not re-invent the wheel, if someone has an elegant solution already.
Part sources and part numbers would also be appreciated.

Tom Tom needs a step down from 12VDC to 5 VDC, or i would just hardware a harness.
Plus i like the flexibility of being able to use other accessories.

    Thanks in advance,
    Christopher.

A cigarette plug can sit in the rain, in the same way that cheap boat trailer lights can be submerged for minutes, while lit. You could take a live cigarette plug and drop it in a pail of water.

You should protect your transformer if it's not weatherproof.

I don't know about an "elegant solution", but I put my power point under my seat. My battery tender hooks up with a two-wire quick disconnect. I used this existing pigtail to hook my power point to with an inline fuse. The only problem with this set up is that I have to run the power cord from the handlebar down under the tank to the power point. This means that it'll take some work to extract it if I want to use the TomTom in the car.

I have not mounted mine yet but I plan to mount it near the battery since there is plenty of room in the cover. Then run the TomTom power cord up the backbone and leave it there. I can unplug it when not in use and it should stay dry if caught in the rain.

I'm still trying to decide how to protect the TomTom end of the plug when not in use. Probably will tuck it back under the tank.

I saw some folks mention mounting the plug near the gauges - I would like to see pics of that too. May be a better solution.

FYI I found a great mount for <$20 on ebay - I have a card at home with the business name if folks are interested.

I tuck the power cord under the plastic head cap when not in use.
