    That's a beautiful thing.

Careful that you don't "wash" those butterfly valves, as that ink will come off!

Two screwdrivers and a hammer! That's all you really need, isn't it?

    Midnight Max carbs, too.......

well other than snowmobiling a bit I will be doing the same my throttle shaft seals are/have been seaping so it is about time to take care of them, and do the valve adjustment(well chk at least LOL). The good thing about winter up here(mi) is there is snow all over so There is no rush to get things right back together and ride I can take my time and do a thorough proper job..

Like the man said ... If you are going to be taking all those Carbs right-on-down to Naked Body's ... You'd do well to mark parts in a manner that cannot be unmarked in any way.

Using a Center Punch with a pinpoint end ... you can "Dimple" parts with tiny dots: . / .. / ... / .... Permanent markings.

Using a "Scratch-awl" Scratch an Identifying Mark on the Parts.

An actual Engraving Tool comes in very handy; also.

Putting a Mark on Parts that must not be confused with others or ... Making sure the Orientation of a Part has a subtle Identifying Mark can save you a WHOLE lot of time and aggravation. Especially, for projects that are going to be deliberately done over a long period of time.

Having notes, drawings and even a digital photo isn't enough if you have two parts that are almost the same and you need to pick the right one.

if there's no marks on them now, how did they tell them apart when they made them?

Judging from the rather crude, rough-cut edges of the butterfly valves, I believe that they were hand-manicured-to-fit a particular carb during assembly.........

I thought Samuel Colt had put an end to that practice in the late 19th century... not so "mass produced" if there is hand-manicuring going on. Interesting theory.

I doubt that a Butterfly Throttle Plate from a Batch made to fit a 28mm carb would be any different from the next one. They were all probably "Stamped-Out" ... NOT individually made.

What you have to Look-Out for is the Possibility that a PO swapped-in a Part that came from elsewhere.
Not being able to extract a Throttle Plate Screw ... drilling-out ... ruining the Hole on the Throttle Plate and substituting a Throttle Plate from who knows where is possible.
    Possible.
    Anythings possible on these bikes.
We've seen it all or most of it; I hope.

If you cant fix it with a hammer it must be a electrical problem

All you need in your toolkit are two things: WD-40 and duct tape.

If it doesn't move and it's supposed to, use the WD-40. If it moves and it's not supposed to, use the tape.
